Have you had your bike fit checked?

This may sound like stating the obvious, but having a good bike fit could solve the problem, especially if the injury is at an early stage, or it could at least prevent reinjury if you receive any medical treatment.

It may also be worth checking your pedal technique and the whole position of your leg and foot with the problem throughout the rotation. It could be that only a small adjustment is required, rather than a total refit.

If you've already done this then sorry for stating the obvious. If not, it might be worth making an appointment with a bike fit professional before spending larger sums on any medical treatment.

If you look back through the message board archives, you will find discussions on bike fits, which might point you in the right direction. Several members of the club swear by various people, so it may be worth talking to them to find out their experiences - good and bad!

sports medicine doc

Dr. Vijay Vad at the Hospital for Special Surgery, 212-606-1306. Treats many elite and non-elite athletes, sports specific in a variety of sports, really knowledgeable and a very nice, down to earth guy. I'm sure I owe him my continued ability to ride despite numerous injuries. Good luck!!

A second for Dr. Vad

I'll second Debbie's recommendation of Dr. Vad and point out that I had similar knee pain when my seat was too high.
