Hi.

I ordered two new Shimano cranksets from Chain Reaction Cycles, before I realized they are in Northern Ireland. They had pricing that allow me to save 42%.

I'm concerned that the cranksets are going to be gray market, or worse, since I need to deal with Chain Reaction for warrenty issues and not go to Shimano directly.

What is people's experience with Chain Reaction, especially when there is a defect in the hardware?

Should I trust that what I'm getting is the real thing?

Should I just sell the cranksets on eBay to recoup what I spent and then buy new cranksets on this side of the Atlantic?

Thanks

-marc

chain reaction

i've dealt with them many times and no problem if they say its shimano thats what it will be.sometimes they maybe  oem   means it will be in a a plastic bag and not fancy box but still real.the best thing to do is use paypal if possible.it gives you more protection.

Used Amex.  So it should be protected.

CRC is a highly respected

CRC is a highly respected retailer. They are 100% trust worthy. They also allow returns form the USA for $1.99 within 365 days. From my experience their service is among the best. If you'll have any hardware issue they will usually send a completly free you a return shipping lable or simply credit you.

Never a problem

I've bought a few things from them and never had a problem. And I love that they use minimal packing materials.

Wiggle
I had terrible experience with wiggle. Never received what I ordered and customer service experience essentially non existent. Had to resort to credit card company to get refund.

CRC is great, and they are

CRC is great, and they are definiatly offering legit products. The pricing for Shimano products in particular has to do with how Shimano varies their prices for different markets - resulting in UK suppliers being able to sell for much less than any US based shop can beat.

There are a few discussion online you can find about the topic:
