A message from Club President Christy Guzzetta

Elections. . . .  .

Not the boring Donald Trump/Hillary Clinton election – it’s the exciting New York Cycle Club elections!!

Nominations close at the membership meeting October 11th. Voting begins shortly thereafter – the final results announced at the membership meeting November 8th.   Our new board goes into action January 1, 2017.

You know what?  Our members want a choice when they vote – they don’t have choice without a contested election.  Proof of their desire for choice was last year’s election -  we had a contested election last year and what do you know, more members voted in that contested election than in any previous election in the history of the Club.  How many would have voted had there been no choice?  Duh.

“Making friends and having fun on your bike”.  Executing that mission is the board members’ job.  That is in fact why each and every member joined our club in the first place – to make friends and have fun on their bike.   You don’t agree?  Run for office.  Have a good idea for our members to make friends and have fun on their bike?  Run for office.  No doubt, there’s mundane tasks that need to be accomplished in order for our fellow members to make friends and have fun on your bike.  We have to pay bills.  Have to keep our website up and running and functioning and doing a great job.  We have to help our fellow members volunteer.  So much - Memorial Day weekend, SIGs, ENY, July 4th, Fall Foliage, rides every Saturday and Sunday, rides pretty much every day, etc., etc., etc.  Holy moly, we have that much fun?

Yes, we do!

Officers of the NYCC make that happen.  You can make that happen, you can play an integral role in our members making friends and having fun on their bike.  The club will love you for raising your hand, for expressing your ideas, for running for office, for giving them a choice.

At the risk of sounding corny – who me? corny? – there is no better feeling you will have than the feeling you get helping our members make friends and have fun on their bike.  Swear!

Questions?  Write any board member, write me – President@nycc.org.
