NYCC is honored to present Dave Neiswander, CEO of World Bicycle Relief (WBR), as our featured speaker. Dave will introduce this incredible life-changing “bike-centric” charity to our members, in this unique and special presentation. Here is an introduction to WBR directly from Dave.

“World Bicycle Relief (WBR) mobilizes people through The Power of Bicycles. We envision a world where distance is no longer a barrier to independence and livelihood. By building and distributing specially-designed, locally assembled, rugged Buffalo Bicycles to those who are challenged by distance in rural developing countries, we empower people to access the education, healthcare, and economic opportunities that can transform lives.

WBR was founded in 2005 by F.K. Day and Leah Missbach Day in response to the Indian Ocean tsunami. As a founder of SRAM and leader in bicycle product development, F.K. experience and knowledge offered a unique opportunity to problem-solve with other cycling industry leaders.  WBR has since built programs to provide over 390,000 specially designed, locally assembled bicycles for students, healthcare workers and entrepreneurs across Africa, South America and Southeast Asia. While the bicycles themselves help individuals conquer distance and increase their carrying capacity, WBR has also created new economic opportunities by training field mechanics and employing bike assemblers to support our local programs.”
