60% chance of rain, wind increasing to 30mph...

Let me guess which group is most likely to ride anyway.

Think there will be time for a ride in the AM?

We ride!

Rain is not forecasted to begin until 3:00 PM. If we keep the stops short, we should be fine...

Earlier Start

How about we start at 8:00 instead of 9:00 and get a head start on the weather.

Early Start

I am sure this will be a topic of discussion, but several riders come from Brooklyn, so early starts are a challenge.

Things to consider when riding before impending rain

When rain is slated for the day you want to get a timely start for the ride so show up promptly. If you get a flat tire because your tires are worn out and the group gets soaked because the down time could have made it home or to the train dry, you will not be remembered fondly; present with a bike that has serviceable, properly inflated tires. Carry some rain gear or it will be like jumping out of a plane without a parachute. And, if you don't fancy a wet, brown streak down your back, put a rear fender on your bike. Lastly, don't dawdle, the ride is the thing. If you are lucky enough to get home dry you will have had to help make your own luck.

Thanks Hank

If we keep down-time and stops to a minimum, we should be shape. Even with Little Tor and Gate Hill Road climbs, we should get to Perkins no later than noon. From there, evey rider to themself! If it is not raining and Perkins looks inviting, go for the climb. If the weather looks bad, head for Garrison or Peekskill. The die-hards may even opt for climbing in the rain.
