How to Field Service the Latest Gear will entail an overview of the latest cycling technology - tubeless tires, electronic shifters, hydraulic breaks - and make roadside fixes. This program is recommended for anyone who owns a modern bike; is considering acquiring one; and leaders who will have to deal with this during a ride.
Dylan Varekamp is the service manager at NYC Velo's East Village location. he has worked as a mechanic since 2010 in Baltimore, New York City, and Portland. Even before working in the industry, Dylan has been a lifelong tinkerer and cyclist, and especially enjoys loing distance self supported touring both on and off road.
He has ridden and fixed bikes on the Baja Divide, Oregon Stampede, D2R2 and any number of trips up and down the east and west coasts of the US. Most recently, he road from Burlington, VT to Bar Harbos, ME. Dylan is familiar with most current drivetrains, brakes, and wheel systems and has taught severl repair and maintenance courses.
