Ah, Richard, like minds....

Ah, Richard, like minds....

I had thought about posting it and saying we should translate it to how we ride.

Yes, as to cyclists, most notably on the GWB

No better example of what you suggest than the GWB, the straightaways, yes, but, in particlar, the chicanes around the towers where, seemingly, strictly faux and wannabe-but-aren't racers take their line and the hell with you if it drives you up against the grating--a very grating experience. I think the words we're searching for here are near universal inconsideration of others...teammates, family, and close friends excepted.

Tighter turns now...

Last time I went over the south path (seems like AGES ago now), what I realized about the two super tight turns (chicanes, as they are called by some) is that there is now approx. four to six inches LESS space on the eastbound (or water) side, as the fencing/mesh was applied inside the guardrails.  So, now those inconsiderate cyclists/peds/runners/dogwalkers will be even further into the westbound user's space.  Does this ever get easier???

Chicane defined

Chicane | Definition of Chicane by Merriam-Webster

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/chicane
Definition of chicane. 2 a : an obstacle on a racecourse. b : a series of tight turns in opposite directions in an otherwise straight stretch of a road-racing course.

Then perhaps we should stop

Then perhaps we should stop calling then chicanes, since we want cyclists to stop thinking of the GWB as a race course. I call them box turns.

But my precise point is these schmucks DO pretend they're racers

You think the inbred inconsideration of and irresponsibility towards other riders by these faux-let's-pretend-let's-play racers (not the real ones) is amenable to change by mere use of language? I don't. I think it's close to the core of their entire deficient, wholly self-involved personalities. You can be sure their irresponsibility, thoughtlessness, selfishness, and inconsideration of other riders is displayed in all areas of their irresponsible, thoughtless, selfish, and inconsiderate lives.

Please excuse my understatement.
